This method aims to efficiently determine if scanned curves are affected by light changes without requiring additional hardware.

What changed

This document is a published patent application (EP4668530A3) from the European Patent Office concerning a "Parametric Curve Scanning Method for Photovoltaic String, Converter, and Photovoltaic Power Generation System." The application, filed by Huawei Digital Power Technologies Co., Ltd., describes a method for scanning parametric curves (current-voltage or power-voltage) of photovoltaic strings. The method involves controlling output voltage changes according to preset rules across overlapping voltage ranges to scan two parametric curves, allowing for a determination of light change impact without additional hardware.

As this is a patent publication, it does not impose direct compliance obligations or deadlines on regulated entities. However, companies involved in the design, manufacturing, or integration of photovoltaic power generation systems, particularly those utilizing Huawei technology or similar scanning methods, should be aware of this patented technology. Legal and R&D departments may wish to review the patent details for potential licensing opportunities or to understand the competitive landscape in photovoltaic system optimization and monitoring.

Abstract

This application relates to a converter in a photovoltaic power generation system and a parametric curve scanning method for a photovoltaic string. A parametric curve includes a current-voltage curve or a power-voltage curve. The scanning method includes: controlling an output voltage of the photovoltaic string to change from a first endpoint voltage of a first voltage range to a second endpoint voltage of the first voltage range according to a first preset rule, to scan a first parametric curve; controlling the output voltage of the photovoltaic string to change from a third endpoint voltage of a second voltage range to a fourth endpoint voltage of the second voltage range according to a second preset rule, to scan a second parametric curve. There is an intersection set between the first voltage range and the second voltage range. In this application, whether a scanned curve is affected by a light change may be determined based on the first parametric curve and the second parametric curve. This is convenient and fast, and no additional hardware test device is required.
