Summary

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a notice on March 25, 2026, announcing a revised schedule for the Environmental Assessment for Algonquin Gas Transmission's Cape Cod Canal Pipeline Relocation Project. The EA issuance date has been moved from April 17 to May 29, 2026, due to Algonquin's delayed filing of its horizontal directional drill assessment report and additional project siting information. A 90-day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline of August 27, 2026 applies to cooperating federal and state agencies.

What changed

FERC staff has revised the environmental assessment schedule for Algonquin Gas Transmission's Cape Cod Canal Pipeline Relocation Project (Docket No. CP25-552). The EA issuance date has been pushed from April 17, 2026 to May 29, 2026. The delay resulted from Algonquin's late submission of its horizontal directional drill assessment report and additional siting information, which are critical for the EA covering a majority of the project. The 90-day Federal Authorization Decision Deadline for cooperating agencies is August 27, 2026.

Affected parties should register for FERC's free eSubscription service to receive automatic notifications when the EA is issued. Once the EA is published on May 29, 2026, there will be a 30-day public comment period. Participants interested in filing interventions, comments, or requests for rehearing should contact FERC's Office of Public Participation. No new substantive requirements or penalties are imposed by this schedule revision.

Content

This notice identifies the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission staff's revised schedule for the completion of the environmental
assessment (EA) for Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC's (Algonquin) Cape Cod Canal Pipeline Relocation Project. (1) The first notice of schedule, issued on December 8, 2025, identified April 17, 2026, as the EA issuance date. However, Algonquin
delayed its filing of the horizontal directional drill assessment report, information critical to a majority of the project,
and additional project siting information, which, in turn, has delayed staff's submission of the EA to the cooperating agencies.
As a result, staff has revised the schedule for issuance of the EA. The EA will be issued for a 30-day comment period.
