DoD Information Collection on Pentagon Space Permit Applications
Summary
The Department of Defense Washington Headquarters Services has published a 60-day notice under the Paperwork Reduction Act seeking public comments on a proposed information collection for DD Form 2798, Application/Permit for Use of Space on the Pentagon Reservation. The collection affects businesses and nonprofits seeking permits for Pentagon Reservation public spaces. Estimated burden is 12.5 annual burden hours across 30 respondents.
What changed
The DoD is proposing a new information collection under OMB Control Number 0704-AUSP for DD Form 2798, which is required for individuals and organizations seeking permits to use space on the Pentagon Reservation. Permits cover activities including group photos, corridor displays, construction work (demolition, survey, laydown, storage), and special events (induction and award ceremonies, changes-of-command, promotions, retirements). The collection does not apply to leased spaces. The agency estimates 30 respondents with an annual burden of 12.5 hours.
Regulated entities wishing to comment on this proposed collection must submit comments by June 1, 2026 via regulations.gov or mail. No compliance deadline applies as this is a notice seeking comments on a proposed collection, not a final rule requiring implementation. Entities that anticipate seeking Pentagon space permits should review the proposed collection requirements and submit any concerns about burden estimates or utility during the comment period.
What to do next
- Review DD Form 2798 requirements if your organization may seek Pentagon Reservation space permits
- Submit public comments on the proposed information collection by June 1, 2026 if you have concerns about burden estimates or utility
- Monitor for final OMB approval and any changes to the collection requirements
