What changed

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission published its monthly revenue report for February 2026, showing aggregate gaming revenue of $156.0 million from Iowa's 19 licensed casinos and sports wagering operators. Casino revenue grew 6.97% year-over-year while sports wagering revenue fell 6.82%, with the decline attributed to reduced interest in Super Bowl LX betting ($17.47 million wagered, down 18.44% from 2025). State tax collections from gaming operations totaled $27.06 million combined.

The report provides informational revenue data for compliance monitoring purposes and does not impose new obligations on operators. Gaming licensees and investors in Iowa's gambling sector may use these figures to assess market trends and operator performance. The IRGC noted that the sports wagering decline was seasonal rather than indicative of market weakness, with overall interest in sports betting remaining strong.

February 2026 Revenue Information

In figures provided to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, Iowa’s licensed casinos and sports wagering operators reported $156.0 million in receipts for February 2026. Casino revenue increased almost 7%, while sports wagering revenue decreased by almost 7%.  Additionally, the amount wagered on the Super Bowl declined by more than 18% from last year.

“The revenue and tax numbers indicate that casino gaming in Iowa continues to be strong for the second month of 2026,” noted Tina Eick, administrator for the Racing and Gaming Commission.  “While sports wagering numbers were down for February, this is not a reliable predictor of the overall market.  Based upon the teams playing this year, Iowans weren’t as interested in betting on the Super Bowl.  That had a negative impact on sportsbook revenue for the month.  However, overall interest in sports wagering in the state continues to be strong.”
