2-Year CD Auction NT$250B Issued at 1.322% Weighted Average Rate
CBC Taiwan conducted an auction of 2-year term CDs on April 17, 2026 (ROC year 115), issuing NT$250 billion. Total bids received were NT$438 billion, representing a bid-to-cover ratio of 1.75x. The weighted average successful rate was 57.08%, with a weighted average yield of 1.322%. This is a routine open market operation by the central bank.
March 2026 Taiwan Bank RMB Business Statistics
The Central Bank of Taiwan released March 2026 statistics on Renminbi (RMB) business conducted by Designated Banks (DBU) and Offshore Banking Units (OBU). As of end-March 2026, 65 DBUs and 56 OBUs were authorized to handle RMB business. Total RMB deposits (including NCDs) reached 1,104.01 billion RMB, with loan balances of 237.60 billion RMB and remittance totals of 1,855.49 billion RMB.
Central Bank of Taiwan Publishes CBDC External Communication Summary Report
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) published a summary report of its CBDC external communication activities conducted from 2023 to 2025. The bank commissioned the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research for a nationwide quantitative questionnaire in 2023, and the Taiwan Financial Training Institute to host nine hearings, briefings, and forums across northern, central, and southern Taiwan in 2025, with 1,714 total participants from 219 institutions spanning the financial industry, civil society, government, and academia. The report consolidates stakeholder feedback on seven major CBDC concern areas including policy objectives, comparison with deposit tokens and stablecoins, legal basis, technical architecture, risk management, financial inclusion, and cross-border payments.
