Summary

The Reserve Bank of India has extended the operational period of Directive No. DEL.DOS.EXG_SSM.No.S515/12-10-013/2022-2023 for Ramgarhia Co-operative Bank Ltd., New Delhi for an additional three months from close of business on April 8, 2026 to close of business on July 8, 2026. The extension is issued under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The RBI notes that this extension should not be construed as satisfaction with the bank's financial position.

What changed

The Reserve Bank of India has extended the regulatory directions originally issued to Ramgarhia Co-operative Bank Ltd., New Delhi on July 7, 2022, for an additional three-month period. The directive, which restricts certain banking operations, will now remain in effect until close of business on July 8, 2026. All other terms and conditions of the directive remain unchanged. The extension is issued pursuant to Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.

For Ramgarhia Co-operative Bank, this extension means continued operational restrictions under the original directive. The bank's customers and depositors should expect that the restrictions imposed by the directive will remain in effect through the new deadline. The RBI has explicitly clarified that the extension does not indicate any improvement in the bank's financial condition, suggesting ongoing supervisory concerns that warrant continued monitoring.

What to do next

  1. Continue compliance with all terms and conditions of the original directive
  2. Prepare for the directive review scheduled for July 8, 2026
  3. Monitor RBI communications for any further updates or changes to the directive
