What changed

This document is a published patent application, not a regulatory rule or guidance. It describes a proposed invention for a method to remotely certify the condition of trading cards. The method involves users recording a video of the card's handling and protection, including presentation, sealing, and unique identifier verification, and then uploading this video to a remote server for assessment by a third-party certifier. The application is identified by its publication number US20260087509A1 and filing date of September 11, 2023.

As this is a patent application and not a regulation, there are no immediate compliance obligations or deadlines for regulated entities. However, if this patent is granted, it could impact businesses involved in trading card authentication, grading services, and online marketplaces by potentially requiring licensing or influencing operational procedures for remote condition verification. Companies in this space should monitor the patent's prosecution status.
