The WSI Noise Insulation Program will deliver noise treatments to help reduce aircraft overflight noise experienced inside noise-sensitive habitable areas in existing eligible buildings.
The program aims to reduce the impact of aircraft noise for landowners of properties close to the new airport to allow residents to remain in their homes and maintain a satisfactory standard of living.
Landowners within the eligibility area can apply for noise treatment works for homes and noise sensitive non-residential buildings such as schools and childcare centres.
The program will run for 3 years until April 2029 and is voluntary.
Noise treatments will be designed by acoustic experts to suit the requirements of individual buildings, and may include high performing acoustic glazing, acoustic insulation, upgrading or replacing hollow external doors, and sealing gaps and cracks around doors and windows.
Master Building Solutions Pty Ltd, a Sydney-based specialist construction company, has been appointed by the Australian Government as the managing contractor for this program, and will deliver all noise treatment works.
Landowners of properties within the eligibility area will be contacted directly and invited to apply to the program.
The Australian Government will cover the costs of noise treatments.
