Weekend Lane and Ramp Closures on I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector, Freedom Pkwy for Resurfacing
Expect Traffic Delays in Midtown, Plan Alternate Routes **** ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors install lane closures on Interstate 75/Interstate 85 (I-75/I-85) "The Downtown Connector" in Fulton County for a resurfacing project on the Interstate between the CSX Railroad crossing in South Atlanta and the I-75/I-85 Brookwood Interchange in midtown Atlanta. These activities help repair and extend the life of the roadway materials and provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, here are the scheduled lane and ramp closures:
9 p.m. on Friday, April 24 until 7 a.m. on Saturday
- Two right lanes will be closed on I-75/I-85 northbound from Courtland Street to 5th Street
- The I-75/I-85 northbound entrance ramp from Williams Street will be closed. Roadside signage will alert drivers of the closures in advance and direct drivers to the detour route.
- Two right lanes will be closed on I-75/I-85 southbound between Ralph D Abernathy Boulevard and SR 166/Langford Parkway
- The entrance ramp to I-75/I-85 southbound from SR 166/Langford Parkway will be closed. Roadside signage will alert drivers of the closures in advance and direct drivers to the detour route.
9 p.m. on Friday, April 24 until 5 a.m. on Monday
- “Rolling” lane closures will be installed on I-75/I-85 northbound and southbound between University Avenue and 17th Street. As crews complete work in one area, the closures “roll” to the next work location.
Roadway signage will alert drivers of these closures in advance and provide direction to detour routes.

This $22.5 M project is currently scheduled for completion in early spring 2026.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone during the project work hours. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
