EASA and EUROCONTROL Publish Joint Action Plan for GNSS Safety
EASA and EUROCONTROL jointly published an Action Plan on March 26, 2026 to strengthen the safety and resilience of European aviation operations against Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference, which poses an increasing threat particularly near conflict zones. The Plan sets out short, mid, and longer-term measures including joint monitoring, data-sharing, harmonised operational procedures, updated guidance for flight crews and air traffic controllers, and collaboration with aircraft manufacturers and the avionics industry to develop more interference-resilient solutions. The Action Plan addresses concerns raised in a June 6, 2025 letter from 13 EU Member States calling for coordinated European action on Radio Frequency Interference events affecting GNSS-based systems.
