Steel Concrete Reinforcing Bar from Mexico and Turkey - Five-Year Review Determination
Summary
The US International Trade Commission determined that revocation of countervailing and antidumping duty orders on steel concrete reinforcing bar from Turkey and Mexico would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to the domestic industry. The orders will remain in effect following completion of this five-year review.
What changed
The Commission completed its five-year (sunset) review of countervailing duty order 701-TA-502 (Turkey) and antidumping duty order 731-TA-1227 (Mexico) on steel concrete reinforcing bar. Based on the record developed, the Commission determined that revocation of either order would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to the US industry within a reasonably foreseeable time. This affirmative determination maintains both trade remedy orders in place.
Importers and exporters of steel rebar from Turkey and Mexico should continue to account for applicable countervailing and antidumping duties on covered merchandise. Domestic steel producers benefit from continued protection against unfairly traded imports. The orders remain in effect until the next five-year review or earlier revocation.
What to do next
- Monitor for ongoing compliance with existing AD/CVD duty orders on Turkish and Mexican rebar
- Continue paying applicable duties on covered imports
