Summary
The Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) is seeking public comments through June 5, 2026 on extending OMB approval (Control No. 1405-0141) for the Annual Brokering Report required under ITAR part 129. Approximately 1,142 respondents engaged in defense article manufacturing, exporting, or temporary importing must submit annual brokering activity reports. The total estimated burden is 2,284 hours at 2 hours per response.
What changed
The Department of State is requesting a 60-day public comment period to extend OMB approval of the Annual Brokering Report information collection. The collection requires ITAR-registered brokers to submit annual reports detailing brokering activities by quantity, type, U.S. dollar value, purchaser/recipient, and license numbers for approved activities and exemptions utilized.
Manufacturers, exporters, and temporary importers of defense articles subject to ITAR broker registration requirements should monitor this extension request. DDTC uses this data to review munitions export and brokering license applications and ensure compliance with defense trade statutes and regulations.
