Summary

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding enabling technologies for future space missions under the Space Technology Development Program (STDP). The RFI seeks industry feedback on draft technology priorities and potential procurement plans, with a closing date of March 19, 2026.

What changed

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is soliciting information from the Canadian Space Sector regarding potential future Requests for Proposals (RFPs) under the Space Technology Development Program (STDP). This RFI aims to inform industry about anticipated RFP timelines, present a preliminary list of priority technologies (including telescope adaptations, focal plane array electronics, and terrestrial snow mass mission technologies), and gather feedback on the scope, feasibility, and clarity of proposed work elements. The CSA is also collecting information to refine technical requirements, risk considerations, and procurement planning.

Companies in the Canadian space sector are encouraged to review the draft technology list and provide feedback by the closing date of March 19, 2026. This consultation is an opportunity for industry to influence future procurement decisions and potentially partner with other interested businesses. While this RFI does not constitute a commitment to procure, it is a crucial step in the CSA's planning process for upcoming solicitations.

What to do next

  1. Review the draft list of priority technologies for future space missions.
  2. Submit feedback on the scope, feasibility, and clarity of proposed work elements by March 19, 2026.
  3. Consider partnering with other interested businesses for potential future RFPs.
