Summary

USPTO granted Patent US12591055B2 to Signify Holding B.V. for a network controlling device that improves radiofrequency sensing reliability by dynamically defining new sensing areas when detection results are potentially unreliable. The patent covers 14 claims and is assigned to CPC classifications including H04W 4/38 and H04L 63/1416.

What changed

The USPTO issued Patent No. US12591055B2 to Signify Holding B.V. on March 31, 2026, granting exclusive rights to a device for controlling a network performing radiofrequency sensing. The invention includes a providing unit, determination unit, and defining unit that work together to identify unreliable detection regions and create new sensing areas to improve reliability. The patent application (No. 18024064) was filed on August 10, 2021.

Patent grants establish enforceable intellectual property rights but do not impose compliance deadlines on third parties. Companies developing similar RF sensing network technologies should review the patent claims to assess potential infringement risks and consider whether licensing from Signify Holding B.V. is necessary. The 14 claims define specific methods and apparatus configurations that are now protected.

What to do next

  1. Review patent claims to assess potential infringement exposure for RF sensing network products
  2. Evaluate need for licensing negotiations with Signify Holding B.V. if similar technology is in development
  3. Document patent landscape analysis for radiofrequency sensing technologies

Penalties

Patent infringement may result in injunctive relief and damages; however, no specific penalties are stated in this grant notice

Abstract

The invention refers to a device for controlling a network (100) comprising sensing areas (110, 120). The device (130) comprises a) a providing unit (131) for providing a sensing result of radiofrequency sensing in the sensing areas, b) a determination unit (132) for determining whether a detection result is potentially unreliable in a spatial region, and c) a defining unit (133) for defining a new sensing area (150) corresponding to a part of the spatial region in which the detection result is potentially unreliable. The providing unit (131) is adapted to provide a new sensing result in the new sensing area, and the detection result is determined for at least the part of the spatial region for which a potentially unreliable detection result is determined based on a sensing result and the new sensing result. Thus, the invention provides a device that allows to improve the sensing reliability of radiofrequency.
