Summary

The FCC invites public comment on extending OMB Control Number 3060-0589, covering FCC Remittance Advice Forms (FCC Form 159/159-C, 159-B, 159-E, and 159-W). The collection supports payment processing for regulatory fees, application filing fees, auctions, fines, forfeitures, and FOIA billings. The FCC estimates 238,044 respondents with a total annual burden of 59,511 hours.

What changed

The FCC seeks public comment on extending its existing information collection for remittance advice forms used to process payments to the Commission. The collection covers FCC Form 159 and related forms submitted when entities electronically pay regulatory fees, application filing fees, auction fees, fines, forfeitures, FOIA billings, or other debts owed to the FCC. No changes to the burden estimates or requirements are proposed.

Telecommunications firms and other entities required to submit payments to the FCC should monitor this extension process. The collection imposes minimal burden (15 minutes per response) and is necessary to obtain benefits. The comment period closes June 5, 2026, with no anticipated changes to total annual cost or reporting obligations.

What to do next

  1. Monitor for updates on OMB approval status
  2. Submit written comments by June 5, 2026 if affected by the collection requirements
  3. Review remittance form requirements for FCC payments
