Belgium BIPT Sets Telecom Tariff Transparency Rules

BIPT published a decision on 28 January 2026 imposing specific rules on telecom operators to improve subscriber transparency regarding the most advantageous tariff plan suited to their actual consumption. The decision requires operators to include all their brands when identifying the most advantageous plan and aims for greater uniformity in tariff communication. Operators have 9 months from the publication date to adapt their practices, with the objective of enabling informed consumer choice.

Railway Coverage Measurement Method Decision 10 Mar 2026

BIPT issued a decision on 10 March 2026 establishing the standardized measurement method for verifying mobile network coverage performance on selected railway lines in Belgium. The decision operationalizes the network coverage obligations established under the Royal Decree of 28 November 2021 concerning radio access in the 700 MHz frequency band. Mobile network operators subject to railway coverage obligations will be assessed against this new measurement methodology to demonstrate compliance.

BIPT Seeks Stakeholder Input for 2027-2029 Strategic Plan

BIPT has opened a call for input inviting stakeholders to contribute priorities and insights for its 2027-2029 Strategic Plan. The consultation closes on 11 May 2026; contributions must be submitted electronically to consultation.sg@bipt.be with reference Consult-2026-A5, with a maximum length of 4 pages. Following analysis of responses, BIPT will publish a draft Strategic Plan for public consultation in autumn.
