RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Tax is reminding taxpayers in Virginia that if you haven’t yet filed your individual income taxes, the filing and payment deadline is just days away. You have until Friday, May 1, 2026, to file your return.

“We strongly encourage you to file electronically,” said Tax Commissioner Kristin Collins, “as it’s the faster, safer option for taxpayers. We also recommend you request your refund, if you have one coming, via direct deposit.”
