Major Disaster Declaration for December 2025 Oregon Floods

Governor Tina Kotek announced that a presidential major disaster declaration has been approved for the December 15-21, 2025 atmospheric river floods affecting nine Oregon counties. The declaration activates federal Public Assistance funding covering more than $15.4 million in documented eligible damages to public infrastructure including roads, bridges, and utilities. Oregon has also requested Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding for long-term risk-reduction projects, which remains under federal review.

New SNAP Toolkit Explains Life Changes to Report

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) has released a new Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) toolkit to help beneficiaries understand what life changes must be reported to maintain accurate food benefit amounts. The toolkit includes easy-to-read flyers, an income-tracking card, and forthcoming videos in English and Spanish, all designed to be visually clear and multilingual. ODHS Mobile Vans Offer On-Site Social Services During Marion County Homeless Camp Clearance

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) deployed its mobile outreach van Olive to provide on-site social services during a homeless camp clearance at a former Costco parking lot in Salem, Oregon. ODHS staff offered immediate assistance including EBT card issuance for SNAP and TANF benefits, employment training referrals, addiction services placement, and veteran housing coordination. The vans allow ODHS workers to verify eligibility and distribute benefits without requiring recipients to travel to an office.
