Kenya Securities Issuers Governance Score Improves to 79%
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) released its eighth annual State of Corporate Governance Report covering 53 issuers of securities to the public. The overall governance score improved to 79 percent in FY 2024/2025, up from 74 percent in FY 2023/2024. Board Operations and Control showed the largest single-year improvement at 9 percent. Banking, Energy & Petroleum, Insurance, Manufacturing & Allied, Investment & Investment Services, and Construction & Allied sectors all achieved Leadership Ratings.
CMA Kenya and Afri Fund Capital Sign MoU to Support LAPSSET Corridor Infrastructure
The Capital Markets Authority Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Afri Fund Capital on March 9, 2026, to promote uptake of capital market products funding infrastructure projects in the LAPSSET Corridor. The agreement identifies priority areas including capital market instruments, green/ESG-labeled instruments, infrastructure-related products, and collective investment vehicles. CMA CEO Wyckliffee Shamiah stated the collaboration aims to mobilize private capital to fund priority national infrastructure projects under the National Government Agenda.
CMA Kenya Approves Mema Asset Management Fund Manager Licence and Four New Sub-Funds
CMA Kenya granted Mema Asset Management Limited a fund manager licence authorising investment management services to local and international investors including institutional and high net worth individuals. The Authority also approved CPF Asset Managers Limited to add the CPF Multi-Asset Special Fund (an open-ended fund targeting private equity, private debt, offshore investments and unlisted securities in Kenya, selected regional markets and globally) under its existing umbrella scheme. Additionally, Dyer & Blair Investment Bank Limited received approval for three sub-funds under the Dyer & Blair Unit Trust Scheme: Dyer & Blair Fixed Income Fund (USD), Dyer & Blair Global Multi Asset Strategy Special Fund (KES) and Dyer & Blair Global Multi Asset Strategy Special Fund (USD).
