Neweraeducation.com Cryptocurrency Fraud Cease and Desist Order
The Arkansas Securities Commissioner issued a Cease and Desist Order against Neweraeducation.com for operating an unlicensed cryptocurrency trading platform that defrauded an Arkansas customer of over $1.4 million. The order finds that New Era violated provisions of the Arkansas Uniform Money Services Act by engaging in money transmission without a license. New Era falsely claimed affiliations with Blackstone, Coinbase, and J.P. Morgan while offering fake investment returns of 2% daily interest.
Neweraeducation.com Cease and Desist Order - $1.4M Cryptocurrency Scam
The Arkansas Securities Commissioner issued a Cease and Desist Order against Neweraeducation.com for violating the Arkansas Uniform Money Services Act. The order found that New Era operated an unlicensed cryptocurrency trading platform that defrauded at least one Arkansas customer of over $1.4 million. The platform falsely claimed affiliations with Blackstone, Coinbase, and J.P. Morgan. New Era is not licensed with the Arkansas Securities Department in any capacity to engage in money transmission.
Federal Court Permanently Enjoins NC Forex Fraudsters, Orders $5.3M Restitution and Penalties
A federal court in the Western District of North Carolina issued summary judgment and a permanent injunction against Storm Bryant, Elijah Bryant III, and three North Carolina LLCs for operating a fraudulent forex scheme. The court banned the defendants from CFTC-regulated markets and registration, and ordered joint payment of $1.3 million in restitution to 233 victims and $3.9 million in civil monetary penalties. The defendants misappropriated over $1.9 million in client funds received between March 2018 and September 2021 while operating as unregistered commodity trading advisors.
Revokes Investment Adviser Representative Registration of Peyton Whisnant Following Felony Conviction
The North Carolina Secretary of State Securities Division has issued a Final Order revoking the registration of investment adviser representative Peyton Whisnant (CRD No. 7365177). The revocation is based on Whisnant's conviction of nine counts of Felony Third Degree Sex Exploitation of Minor and his failure to disclose the felony charge and conviction on required regulatory filings within 30 days as required under N.C.G.S. ยง 78C-18(d). The registration is revoked effective April 5, 2024.
