Revises Minor Child Definition From Under 21 to Under 18 Years of Age for Form LM-30
The Department of Labor's Office of Labor-Management Standards has issued a final rule amending the definition of "minor child" in 29 CFR 404.1(h) and on Form LM-30 from "under 21 years of age" to "under 18 years of age." This change aligns the definition with the age of majority recognized in most U.S. jurisdictions and reduces reporting burden on labor organization officers and employees required to file Form LM-30 financial disclosure reports. The rule is effective April 22, 2026, and applies to fiscal years beginning on or after July 1, 2026.
