Individuals are reportedly calling licensees, identifying themselves as Board investigators or inspectors, and falsely claiming that the licensee has disciplinary actions pending against their license. The caller ID may even display the Board's name and phone number to appear legitimate.

Licensees are advised to be cautious of such calls. The WV BOP explicitly states that it will NEVER request payment over the phone or as an alternative to a complaint or investigation. Individuals receiving these calls should protect their personal information and validate any claims directly with the Board through official channels, not by responding to the caller's demands.
