USPTO Patent for Acetic Acid Derivatives as Safeners
Summary
The USPTO has granted a patent (US12583826B2) to Bayer Aktiengesellschaft for acetic acid derivatives and salts thereof, intended for use as safeners in crop protection compositions. These compounds aim to reduce the phytotoxic effects of agrochemicals, particularly herbicides.
What changed
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued patent US12583826B2 for [(1,5-diphenyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)oxy]acetic acid derivatives and their salts. The patent, assigned to Bayer Aktiengesellschaft, covers these compounds, crop protection compositions containing them, methods of production, and their specific use as safeners to mitigate the phytotoxic effects of agrochemicals, especially herbicides.
This patent grant signifies the allowance of intellectual property rights for these specific chemical compounds and their application in agriculture. While it does not impose new regulatory compliance obligations on entities outside of patent law, it may impact the competitive landscape for agrochemical development and market entry for related products. Companies involved in the development or use of herbicides should be aware of this patent's scope regarding safener technology.
