Summary

The USPTO has published a patent application (US20260083769A1) detailing novel hydroxyalkyl-capped cationic peptoids for nucleic acid delivery. The application, filed by inventors from various institutions, describes compositions and methods for delivering polyanionic compounds to cells and eliciting immune responses.

What changed

This document is a USPTO patent application (US20260083769A1) for "2-Aminopropane-1,3-Diol-Capped Cationic Peptoids for Nucleic Acid Delivery." The application, filed on September 8, 2023, by inventors Colin James McKinlay, Nicole PECK, Timothy BLAKE, and Juan ECHEVERRI, discloses compositions comprising hydroxyalkyl-capped cationic peptoids, specifically 2-aminopropane-1,3-diol-capped ones, and their complexes with polyanionic compounds like nucleic acids. These are intended for use in methods of making and using delivery vehicle compositions and complexes for delivering polyanionic compounds to cells and for eliciting immune responses.

As this is a patent application, it does not impose direct compliance obligations on regulated entities. However, it signals potential future developments in drug delivery and biotechnology. Companies involved in nucleic acid therapeutics, gene therapy, or vaccine development should monitor patent filings in this area for potential intellectual property implications and emerging technologies. No specific compliance deadlines or penalties are associated with patent applications.

Abstract

The present disclosure provides delivery vehicle compositions comprising hydroxyalkyl-capped cationic peptoids, such as 2-aminopropane-1,3-diol-capped cationic peptoids, and complexes of the delivery vehicles with polyanionic compounds, such as nucleic acids. The disclosure further provides methods of making and using the delivery vehicle compositions and complexes, such as for the delivery polyanionic compounds (e.g., nucleic acids) to cells. The disclosure also provides methods of eliciting an immune response with the delivery vehicle complexes of the disclosure.
