Wisconsin DWD publishes current minimum wage rates effective as of July 24, 2009. The standard adult and minor minimum wage rates are both $7.25 per hour, matching the federal minimum. Separate rates apply for opportunity employees ($5.90), tipped employees ($2.33), caddies, and camp counselors.
Wisconsin Teens Workforce Video Library Covering Job Topics
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Equal Rights Division has published a video library for teens entering the workforce, covering topics including work permit requirements, prohibited minor labor, workplace harassment, disability rights, paycheck deductions, and youth apprenticeship programs. Governor Tony Evers has declared April 2026 as 'Welcome to the Workforce Month' to support Wisconsin teens seeking summer employment.
DWD Launches Welcome to the Workforce Video Library for Teens
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development announced a new educational resource for teens entering the workforce — the Welcome to the Workforce video library, published May 3, 2022. The library features 12 videos covering topics including youth apprenticeship, workplace safety, work permits, wage rights, working hours, harassment, and accommodations for disabilities. DWD will distribute the library to high schools and community programs statewide.
