OPM Annuity Supplement Earnings Report - Comment Period
Summary
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is requesting comments on an expiring information collection request (ICR) for the Annuity Supplement Earnings Report (RI 92-22). The comment period closes on May 8, 2026. This ICR is used to determine the eligibility of certain FERS annuitants for an annuity supplement.
What changed
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has issued a 60-day notice and request for comments regarding the review of an expiring information collection request (ICR), specifically the Annuity Supplement Earnings Report (RI 92-22), OMB No. 3206-0194. This report is used to collect annual earned income from certain Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS) annuitants to determine their eligibility for an annuity supplement, which approximates Social Security benefits and ends at age 62. OPM is seeking feedback on the necessity, accuracy, utility, and clarity of this information collection, as well as ways to minimize the burden on respondents.
Regulated entities, primarily FERS annuitants who are not retired on disability and are under age 62, should be aware that this information collection is under review. While this is a consultation period and not a direct compliance action for most, interested parties, including employers who may facilitate reporting, are encouraged to submit comments to OPM via the Federal Rulemaking Portal by May 8, 2026. The agency is particularly interested in comments that evaluate the accuracy of burden estimates and enhance the utility and clarity of the collection.
What to do next
