Iowa Requires Lawful Presence for Professional Licenses
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing issued a notice informing applicants that professional licenses require verification of U.S. citizenship or lawful presence under 8 U.S.C.A. § 1621 and Executive Order 15. The verification process uses the federal SAVE (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) service, and applicants are advised that providing personal information is voluntary but required to process applications.
Iowa Recognizes Grain Safety Week Mar 30–Apr 3
Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa has proclaimed the week of March 30–April 3, 2026 as Stand Up for Grain Safety Week, highlighting grain bin hazards including suffocation from engulfment, oxygen-deficient atmospheres, and mechanical dangers from augers and rotating shafts. The proclamation, signed by the Governor, encourages agricultural employers to develop safety and health programs and collaborate with the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing to improve prevention efforts. Nominations Sought for 2026 Governor's Award for Quality Care in Health Care Facilities
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is accepting nominations through March 1, 2026 for the 2026 Governor's Award for Quality Care in Health Care Facilities. Eligible nominators include Iowa residents and family members of facility residents, and facilities may not nominate themselves. The award recognizes facilities demonstrating exceptional care and unique or innovative activities enhancing quality of care or quality of life for residents, with eligibility factors including compliance history and Medicaid participation.
