California Prevailing Wage Correction for Laborer Classifications
Summary
The California Department of Industrial Relations issued a notice correcting the predetermined wage increase for laborer classifications. This correction, effective July 3, 2017, adjusts the allocation for pension and wages/employer payments for specific counties.
What changed
The California Department of Industrial Relations issued an important notice correcting a previous prevailing wage determination (SC-23-102-2-2016-1) for laborer and related classifications across several counties. The correction specifically addresses the allocation of a predetermined increase, which will now be $1.65 effective July 3, 2017, with $0.25 allocated to pension and $1.40 to wages and/or employer payments. All other wage rates and conditions remain unchanged.
Awarding bodies and other interested parties must ensure they are using the corrected wage determination for relevant public works projects. Compliance officers should update their records to reflect the new allocation for the specified laborer classifications, particularly for projects commencing on or after July 3, 2017, to ensure adherence to prevailing wage requirements.
What to do next
- Update prevailing wage records for laborer classifications to reflect the corrected allocation.
- Ensure compliance with the adjusted wage and employer payment amounts effective July 3, 2017.
