E. coli from Pizza Pops and Salmonella from pistachios sicken 184 across six provinces, with 31 hospitalized.
The Public Health Agency of Canada reported two concurrent foodborne illness outbreaks on April 16, 2026. An E. coli O26 outbreak linked to Pillsbury Pizza Pops has caused 29 illnesses across 7 provinces, with 7 hospitalizations and no deaths. Simultaneously, a Salmonella outbreak tied to pistachios has affected 155 people in 6 provinces, with 24 hospitalizations.
Food recalls are in effect for affected products. Canadian health officials are urging consumers to check their homes for recalled items and to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms including severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and fever.
Canadian families should monitor food recalls closely and ensure they dispose of or return any affected products, particularly those with children who frequently consume frozen snacks.
