Endoscope treatment tool
Summary
USPTO granted Patent US12588800B2 to Olympus Corporation for an endoscope treatment tool featuring a tubular distal-end member, outer sheath with channel, treatment-tool body with bendable insertion portion, and rotating member with through-hole. The invention enables guided treatment along a curved locus when pushed in the longitudinal direction. Patent has 13 claims and covers CPC classifications including A61B 1/018 and A61B 17/29.
What changed
USPTO issued Patent No. US12588800B2 to Olympus Corporation on March 31, 2026, covering an endoscope treatment tool with a tubular distal-end member attached to an endoscope, an outer sheath with a longitudinal channel, a treatment-tool body including a bendable insertion portion and treatment portion, and a linear connector with a rotating member having a through-hole. The rotating member through-hole extends along a plane intersecting the longitudinal axis, allowing the connector to guide the treatment portion along a curved locus centered on an intersecting axis. The patent contains 13 claims and covers multiple CPC classifications related to endoscopic surgical instruments and their control mechanisms.
Patent holders may enforce exclusive rights against infringers; there are no compliance deadlines or required actions for other parties. The grant is an administrative action granting legal IP protection to the assignee. Abstract
Provided is an endoscope treatment tool including: a tubular distal-end member that is attached to the distal end of an endoscope; an outer sheath having a channel extending in a direction along a longitudinal axis of the endoscope; a treatment-tool body; a linear connector that connects the distal-end member and the treatment-tool body. The treatment-tool body includes a bendable long insertion portion that is inserted through the channel, a treatment portion with which treatment is performed, and a rotating member. The rotating member includes a through-hole that extends along a plane intersecting the longitudinal axis and through which the connector is inserted. When the treatment-tool body is pushed in the longitudinal direction, the connector guides the treatment portion along a locus centered on an axis intersecting a plane including the axis of the distal-end member and the axis of the channel.
