NEC Patent Application for Estimation Device and System
Summary
The USPTO has published a patent application from NEC Corporation for an estimation device and system. The application, filed on December 3, 2025, describes a system that extracts feature amounts from gait waveforms to estimate a user's physical condition based on their attributes.
What changed
This document is a publication of a patent application filed by NEC Corporation with the USPTO. The application (US20260088177A1) details an estimation device, system, method, and recording medium designed to extract feature amounts from gait waveforms derived from sensor data of a user's foot motion. These feature amounts are then used to estimate the user's physical condition, taking into account attributes specific to the user.
As this is a patent application publication, it does not impose any new regulatory obligations or compliance deadlines on regulated entities. It serves as a disclosure of a potential new technology in the health informatics space. Companies involved in developing health monitoring devices, gait analysis systems, or AI-driven diagnostic tools may find this application relevant for competitive intelligence or potential licensing opportunities.

Abstract
An estimation device including a feature amount extraction unit that extracts, from a gait waveform extracted from time series data of sensor data based on a motion of a foot of a user, a feature amount according to an attribute of the user in a section in which a feature of a physical condition according to the attribute of the user appears; and estimates the physical condition of the user using the feature amount extracted according to the attribute of the user.
