Texas Adopts New MFT Licensing Rules in 22 TAC Chapters 801 and 882

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council has published adopted rules in 22 TAC Chapters 801 and 882, affecting marriage and family therapist (MFT) licensing, supervision, and professional practice standards. The rules, published in the November 7, 2025 Texas Register, become effective November 9, 2025, covering six sections: §801.44 (Relationships with Clients), §801.142 (Supervised Clinical Experience Requirements and Conditions), §801.143 (Supervisor Requirements), §882.1 (Application Process), §882.2 (General Application File Requirements), and §882.21 (License Statuses). Additionally, all MFT licensees must begin tracking continuing education hours through CE Broker by January 1, 2026.

Texas Behavioral Health Council, Board Meeting Schedules
