Oklahoma Nursing Board Revocations and Suspensions, May 2025
Summary
The Oklahoma Board of Nursing Investigative Division published a list of license revocations, suspensions, and temporary suspensions following the May 2025 Board Meeting. Actions include revocations for two years with conditions, temporary suspensions pending Board hearings, and suspensions per statute. Legal bases include default from peer assistance program, dishonored payment instruments, and criminal sentencing.
What changed
The Board published a comprehensive list of license enforcement actions including revocations, suspensions, and temporary suspensions for Registered Nurses, APRNs, and Licensed Practical Nurses. Specific actions include three licenses revoked for two years with conditions (Colombin, DeLacruz, Abawonse), two temporary suspensions pending Board hearings (Blankenship, Roberts), and one suspension per statute (Cherry). The document also references automatic suspension provisions under Oklahoma statutes for peer assistance program defaults, dishonored payments, and criminal incarceration.
Healthcare employers and compliance officers should verify that none of their current or prospective nursing staff appear on the suspension or revocation list. Nursing licensure verification should be conducted as part of background screening processes. The Board's ability to impose immediate suspensions without a full Administrative Procedures Act hearing in certain circumstances creates ongoing compliance monitoring requirements for nursing staff.
