Summary

The New Jersey State Board of Optometrists issued an Order of Summary Suspension against Eric Robinson, OD (License No. 27OA00411100) on April 20, 2026. The suspension stems from Respondent's failure to respond to two Board inquiry letters sent to his address of record, constituting non-cooperation with a Board investigation under N.J.A.C. 13:45C-1.2 and professional misconduct pursuant to N.J.S.A. 45:1-21(e). The license shall remain suspended until further Order of the Board, and Respondent is prohibited from practicing optometry in New Jersey until reinstatement.

Why this matters

New Jersey licensees should ensure their address of record with the Board is current and promptly respond to any inquiry letters. The Board's use of summary suspension without a prior hearing demonstrates the seriousness with which non-cooperation is treated under N.J.S.A. 45:1-21(e) and (h).

What changed

The New Jersey State Board of Optometrists issued an Order of Summary Suspension of Eric Robinson's optometry license effective April 20, 2026. The suspension was based on Robinson's failure to respond to two Board inquiry letters requesting information and documents, constituting non-cooperation with a Board investigation. The Board's finding constitutes professional misconduct under N.J.S.A. 45:1-21(e) and subjects the licensee to disciplinary action pursuant to N.J.S.A. 45:1-21(h).

Optometrists and other licensed healthcare professionals in New Jersey should take note: non-response to Board inquiries is treated as professional misconduct and can trigger immediate license suspension. Any licensee who receives inquiry letters from the Board should respond promptly to avoid similar action. Reinstatement, if sought, requires full cooperation with any Board investigation and may include appearance before the Board to demonstrate fitness to practice.

What to do next

  1. Respondent shall refrain from engaging in the practice of Optometry in the State of New Jersey until their license is reinstated
  2. In the event that Respondent seeks reinstatement, Respondent shall comply fully with any Board investigation or inquiry
