Oasis Adult Day Center Helps Seniors Combat Isolation

The Oasis Adult Day Center in northeast Fresno, operated by the Valley Caregiver Resource Center, provides daily programming for older adults with dementia or memory loss to combat isolation. According to a 2023 California Department of Aging survey of 17,700 older adults, 40% reported loneliness or isolation as a problem, and 43% reported feeling depressed. The City of Fresno has allocated $50,000 to support the facility's expansion.
