WY-052 Wyoming State Sub-Chapter Surface Mining Regulation

OSMRE has issued a final notice approving Wyoming's WY-052 State Sub-Chapter regulation governing surface mining operations. This regulation establishes new or modified environmental and reclamation standards for mining activities within Wyoming's jurisdiction under the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA).

Mining operators conducting surface mining operations in Wyoming must ensure compliance with the newly adopted sub-chapter requirements. The regulation applies to all surface mining activities including coal mining and associated processing operations. Operators should review their existing permits and environmental management plans to incorporate any new standards established by WY-052.
