What changed

The VA National Cemetery Administration has submitted a revised information collection for VA Form 40-4970 (Request for Disinterment) to OMB for review. The form is used by claimants to request removal of remains from national cemeteries for interment at another location. The submission revises a currently approved collection under OMB Control No. 2900-0365.

Affected parties include immediate family members of decedents interred in national cemeteries who may seek disinterment, as well as the National Cemetery Administration processing these requests. The collection carries an estimated annual burden of 233 hours across approximately 1,400 respondents (10 minutes per response). This is a routine administrative paperwork requirement under the PRA and does not create substantive new compliance obligations.
