VRR Scheme Expands to North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, and Cymru-Wales
The Solicitor General has confirmed expansion of the Victim's Right to Review (VRR) pilot scheme from the West Midlands into three additional CPS Areas: CPS North West (January 2026), CPS Yorkshire and Humberside (early February 2026), and CPS Cymru-Wales (April 2026). The scheme gives rape and sexual assault survivors the right to have their case reviewed by a different prosecutor before a final decision to offer no evidence is made. The expansion will gather further evidence and data on the scheme's effectiveness before any national rollout decision.
