Summary

This Statutory Instrument corrects an error in a previous pension order for firefighters in England. It amends the Firefighters' Pension Scheme (England) (Amendment) Order 2026 to specify the correct commencement date, replacing a placeholder with April 1st, 2026. The instrument comes into force on March 31st, 2026.

What changed

This Statutory Instrument, the Firefighters’ Pension Scheme (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 2026, corrects a defect in a prior order (S.I. 2026/281). Specifically, it amends Article 1(2) of the Firefighters’ Pension Scheme (England) (Amendment) Order 2026 by replacing a placeholder "XXX" with the correct commencement date of "1st April 2026". The instrument is issued free of charge to recipients of the original order.

This correction is minor and does not introduce new obligations or significant impacts. The primary implication is ensuring the correct commencement date for the previously issued amendment order is clearly stated. Regulated entities, specifically employers and administrators of the firefighters' pension scheme in England, should note the corrected commencement date. The instrument itself comes into force on March 31st, 2026.
