Summary

The FCC has issued a notice and is requesting comments on a proposed revision to an existing information collection under the Paperwork Reduction Act. The collection pertains to technical data submissions for public safety licensees in the 4.9 GHz band. Comments are due by May 15, 2026.

What changed

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is seeking public comment on a revision to an existing information collection (OMB Control Number: 3060-1312) related to Section 90.1207(e) and (f) of its rules. This revision aims to collect granular technical data from public safety licensees and applicants in the 4.9 GHz band to assist the Band Manager in frequency coordination and facilitate non-public safety access to the band. The current collection is estimated to require 16 hours per respondent, with 190 respondents and responses annually, totaling 3,040 hours and $152,000 in costs.

Regulated entities, specifically State, Local, or Tribal Governments acting as respondents, should review the proposed collection and submit comments by May 15, 2026. The FCC is soliciting feedback on the necessity, utility, accuracy of burden estimates, and potential methods to minimize the collection burden, particularly for small businesses. Failure to comply with collections lacking a valid OMB control number does not subject individuals to penalties, but this notice concerns a revision to an existing, approved collection.

What to do next

  1. Review proposed information collection revision for Section 90.1207(e) and (f).
  2. Submit comments on the collection's necessity, utility, burden estimates, and minimization strategies by May 15, 2026.
  3. Advise FCC contact if unable to meet the comment deadline.

the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or the Commission) invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take
this opportunity to comment on the following information collection. Comments are requested concerning: whether the proposed
collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the Commission, including whether the
information shall have practical utility; the accuracy of the Commission's burden estimate; ways to enhance the quality, utility,
and clarity of the information collected; ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on the respondents,
including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology; and ways to further reduce
the information collection burden on small business concerns with fewer than 25 employees.

but find it difficult to do so within the period of time allowed by this notice, you should advise the contact listed below
as soon as possible.

ADDRESSES:
