Ministry of Health Investigates Restaurant Kitchen
07 April, 2026
Yesterday evening, the Department of Health became aware of videos circulating on social media that appeared to show conditions inside the kitchen of a food establishment in Bermuda. As a precautionary measure, an Environmental Health Officer visited the establishment at approximately 9:00 p.m.
We understand the public’s concern — the conditions shown in the circulating video are disturbing and absolutely not acceptable in any food establishment. The Department of Health takes food safety very seriously.
While we were told that the footage was recorded several months ago, Environmental Health Officers immediately investigated, conducted a full inspection last night, and found no evidence of current rodent or cockroach activity. A follow‑up inspection is taking place today, and the establishment will continue to be monitored.
Environmental Health carries out routine inspections across the island and responds to every complaint received. When issues are identified, officers have the authority to require corrective action or close an establishment if there is an active threat to public health.
We appreciate the community’s vigilance. Anyone with concerns about food safety should report them directly to Environmental Health promptly so that appropriate action can be taken. Environmental Health can be contacted at envhealth@gov.bm or 278 5333. Protecting the health of our community remains our priority.
