Declaration of Public Health Emergency - Dengue Fever

Governor Pulaali'i Nikolau Pula of American Samoa declared a Public Health Emergency on July 8, 2025, upon recommendation of the Director of Health, citing six confirmed Dengue Fever cases as of July 7, 2025. Four cases involve recent travel to Samoa, while two are locally acquired with no recent travel history, and three cases are children. The Director of Health is authorized to mobilize all territorial resources and coordinate with the American Samoa Medical Center Authority, the Office of Samoan Affairs, and other agencies for vector control. All government departments, agencies, and offices are directed to provide assistance requested by the Department of Health.
