Pennsylvania Expands Pharmacy Technician and Intern Vaccine Administration Authority
The Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy has finalized a regulation extending authority to trained pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns to administer injectable medications, biologicals, and vaccines to patients. The regulation, approved by the Independent Regulatory Review Commission on March 19, 2026, and effective April 11, 2026, aligns Board regulations with statutory amendments under Act 80 of 2022 and Act 77 of 2024. The rule also adjusts supervision requirements for interns and technicians and lowers patient age ranges for certain injectables.
