Further Stay of Fossil Fuel Restrictions for New Federal Buildings and Major Renovations of Federal Buildings

The Department of Energy has further stayed the compliance date for federal building energy performance standards (10 CFR parts 433 and 435) until September 1, 2026. This is the second extension of the stay; the first delay was issued in May 2025. Federal agencies are not required to comply with fossil fuel consumption restrictions during the stay period.
