Chesapeake Utilities 6% Base Gas Rate Hike for Heating Customers
The Delaware Public Service Commission approved Chesapeake Utilities Corporation's natural gas base rate case settlement on June 18, 2025. Residential home heating customers will see a 6% rate increase (approximately $5.37/month) and non-heating customers a 6.5% increase (approximately $2.74/month). The settlement reduced Chesapeake's requested $12.1-12.8 million increase to $6.1 million, representing the first base gas rate hike in nine years for the utility.
