Summary

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) published a notice of receipt for a permit application to conduct activities with foreign species listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The public comment period closes May 1, 2026. This consultation invites comments on whether the permit should be issued for activities otherwise prohibited under the ESA.

The public comment period closes May 1, 2026. Any party interested in the permit application may submit comments via regulations.gov or U.S. mail to the address provided. Comments must reference the applicant name and permit number, and must be submitted through authorized methods only. After the comment period closes, the Service will consider all received input before making a determination on the permit.

What to do next

  1. Submit public comments by May 1, 2026 if you have information relevant to the permit application
  2. Comment must include applicant name and permit number at the beginning

To help us carry out our conservation responsibilities for affected species, and in consideration of section 10(c) of the
Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (ESA; 16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.), we invite public comments on permit applications before final action is taken. With some exceptions, the ESA prohibits
certain activities with listed species unless Federal authorization is issued that allows such activities. Permits issued
under section 10(a)(1)(A) of the ESA allow otherwise prohibited activities for scientific purposes or to enhance the propagation
or survival of the affected species. Service regulations regarding prohibited activities with endangered species, captive-bred
wildlife registrations, and permits for any activity otherwise prohibited by the ESA with respect to any endangered species
are available in title 50 of the Code of Federal Regulations in part 17.

III. Permit Application

We invite comments on the following application.

is for a single import.

listed in this notice, we will publish a notice in the
Federal Register
