Summary

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in Pune heard the case Rathod Gulabsinh Harisang vs. Union of India. The tribunal issued orders regarding the filing of reports by respondents, the provision of documents, and directed the applicant to quantify loss for personal compensation. The next hearing is scheduled for April 30, 2026.

What changed

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) Western Zone Bench in Pune addressed Original Application No. 134/2025 concerning environmental protection. Key directives included the applicant providing a complete set of documents to respondent no. 6 (Central Ground Water Board) within two days, with a reply affidavit due within four weeks. Respondent no. 3 (GPCB) was ordered to restore a previously filed report to the record. Respondent no. 8 (SEIAA, Gujarat) had filed a reply affidavit, and the applicant has two weeks to file a rejoinder. The applicant was given one final week to quantify loss and fill Form-12 for personal compensation.

This case involves ongoing environmental litigation where parties are required to submit specific documentation and reports. Compliance officers should note the strict timelines for document submission and the applicant's obligation to quantify damages for personal compensation. Failure to comply with these directives could lead to further delays or adverse orders. The matter is adjourned to April 30, 2026, for further consideration, indicating continued judicial oversight.

What to do next

  1. Applicant to provide complete OA and documents to respondent no. 6 via email within 2 days.
  2. Respondent no. 6 to file reply affidavit within 4 weeks of receiving documents.
  3. Applicant to quantify loss and fill Form-12 for personal compensation within 1 week.
