Veterans Forum vs State of Bihar - Execution Application Hearing
Summary
The National Green Tribunal heard an execution application regarding a previous order imposing a Rs. 10,000 cost on respondent 4, the District Magistrate of Saran. The Tribunal deferred a decision on waiving the cost pending the submission of a required affidavit by respondent 4.
What changed
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) convened a hearing on March 23, 2026, concerning Execution Application No. 01/2024/EZ, which stems from Original Application No. 166/2022/EZ. The primary issue addressed was an interlocutory application (I.A. No. 26/2026/EZ) filed by respondent 4, the District Magistrate of Saran, seeking a waiver of a Rs. 10,000 cost previously imposed by the NGT on January 29, 2026, due to a delayed submission of a reply.
The Tribunal noted that the cost was imposed for non-submission of the reply on time and indicated that a decision on waiving the cost would be made after the affidavit is filed on record. The matter has been adjourned to May 7, 2026, for further consideration. Compliance officers for government agencies, particularly those involved in environmental litigation, should ensure timely submission of all required affidavits and responses to NGT orders to avoid penalties.
What to do next
- Submit the affidavit regarding the waiver of cost by respondent 4.
- Prepare for the next hearing on 07.05.2026.
Penalties
Rs. 10,000 cost previously imposed, waiver pending affidavit submission.
