Alaska DEC Program Aids Homeowners with Heating Oil Spill Cleanup Costs
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has launched a new program to assist eligible homeowners with the costs of cleaning up home heating oil spills. The program provides up to $17,000 per household from a $450,000 state budget appropriation.
DEC Proposes Repeal of Fairbanks Real Estate Air Quality Rule
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is proposing to repeal a Fairbanks real estate air quality rule (18 AAC 50.081) following clarification from the EPA that it is no longer federally required. The rule, which tied home energy ratings to real estate transactions, was adopted in 2024. Public comments will be accepted until November 12, 2025.
DEC Assists Juneau with Flood Cleanup and Spill Response
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is providing cleanup services and supplies to Juneau residents affected by recent flooding. DEC staff are on the ground assisting with spill response and waste disposal, and providing guidance on food safety.
