Summary

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission issued Order No. 36988 establishing a modified procedure for Raft River Rural Electric Co-op Inc.'s Wildfire Mitigation Plan application under Idaho Code § 61-1801. The Commission is soliciting written public comments through June 4, 2026, with company reply comments due by June 25, 2026. No petitions to intervene were filed.

What changed

Raft River Rural Electric Co-op Inc. applied on January 29, 2026, for Commission approval of its Wildfire Mitigation Plan pursuant to Idaho's Wildfire Standard of Care Act (Idaho Code § 61-1801, et seq.) and guidelines from Case No. GNR-E-25-02. Order No. 36988 sets public comment deadlines at June 4, 2026, and company reply deadlines at June 25, 2026. The Commission will proceed under Modified Procedure rather than a formal hearing unless significant written comments or protests warrant otherwise.

Compliance officers at electric utilities and interested parties should file written comments through the Commission's website, email, or mail by June 4, 2026. Those requesting a formal hearing must explicitly state why written comments are insufficient. If no comments are received by the deadline, the Commission will proceed to a final order on the merits without further public input.

What to do next

  1. Submit written comments supporting or opposing the application by June 4, 2026
  2. If requesting a formal hearing, explicitly state why written comments alone are insufficient in the filed comments
  3. File comments through the Commission's website (Case Comment Form), email to secretary@puc.idaho.gov, or mail to the Commission Secretary
